This plant is an annual that has Huge 10 to 12 inch heads on a 6 feet tall or more stalk. Thin-shelled, striped seeds that are plump and meaty.
To direct sow sunflower seeds wait until danger of frost is past. Find a nice sunny location with at least 6 hours of full sun. Deep till and make sure soil is well drained, but has plenty of rich manure or compost. Plant at least 6 to 8 inches apart. Enjoy while blooming and then you can let them dry out for seed the following year.
