South GA Seed Co. is a small family-run heirloom seed farm tucked away in the mountains of North Georgia. What started years ago in the river bottoms of South Georgia has now grown into a quiet off-grid homestead in Ellijay, where we raise and preserve open-pollinated heirloom seeds the old-fashioned way — by hand, in the soil, season after season.
We are not a large company, and we never set out to be one. Our family believes in living simply, growing honestly, and preserving varieties that still carry history, flavor, and resilience. Every seed we offer is non-GMO, open-pollinated, and chosen because it has earned a place in our own garden first.
Life on our farm is simple by design. We use solar power, compost, worm castings, and natural growing methods while working to steward the land we’ve been given. Much of what we do each day — planting, watering, harvesting, packing, and shipping — is still done by hand.
We know gardening comes with both excitement and disappointment because we live it ourselves every season. That connection to the soil, the weather, and the work is what shapes everything we do.
Our hope is simple:
to preserve heirloom varieties worth passing down and to help other families experience the joy of growing their own food.
From the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Georgia,
thank you for supporting our small farm.

We have signed The Safe Seed Pledge.

"Agriculture and seeds provide the basis upon which our lives depend. We must protect this foundation as a safe and genetically stable source for future generations. For the benefit of all farmers, gardeners and consumers who want an alternative, we pledge that we do not knowingly buy or sell genetically engineered seeds or plants. The mechanical transfer of genetic material outside of natural reproductive methods and between genera, families or kingdoms poses great biological risks, as well as economic, political and cultural threats. We feel that genetically engineered varieties have been insufficiently tested prior to public release. More research and testing is necessary to further assess the potential risks of genetically engineered seeds. Further, we wish to support agricultural progress that leads to healthier soils, genetically diverse agricultural ecosystems and ultimately healthy people and communities."
We are not in any way associated with Monsanto or any other seed altering corporation.
