Cherokee Wax Beans, a type of bush bean known for their vibrant yellow pods that stand out in any garden; these beans are not only visually appealing but also highly nutritious. The plants typically grow to about 18 inches tall and are quite compact, making them ideal for small garden spaces or container gardening.
Cherokee Wax Beans thrive in well-drained soil with a pH level between 6.0 and 6.8; they prefer full sunlight for at least six hours a day. Planting should be done after the last frost date in your area, as these beans are sensitive to cold temperatures; spacing the seeds about 2-3 inches apart will ensure adequate room for growth. Regular watering is essential, especially during dry spells, but be careful to avoid waterlogging the soil.
These beans are versatile in the kitchen; they can be steamed, boiled, sautéed, or even eaten raw in salads. Harvesting is straightforward: simply pick the beans when they reach about 5-6 inches in length and are still tender. Frequent harvesting encourages the plant to produce more pods, extending your harvest season. Cherokee Wax Beans are a delightful addition to any garden, offering both aesthetic and culinary benefits.

How to Save Seeds
Beans seldom cross pollinate with one another since they are considered to be self pollinators. However that isn't to say it won't occur. So as a precaution it is recommended to grow to different colors of beans near one another if you are limited on space and then observe the seeds when ready. The seed will show signs of crossing if you grew to different colors. If you are concerned about crossing separate by 150ft as a rule. Harvest when completely dried; cure them for a week or so by allowing them to further dry out in their pods spread out from one another, then shell and discard trash.
