How to Save Seeds

Beans are primarily self-pollinating and crossing is uncommon, though it can still occasionally occur. For maintaining seed purity, separate different bean varieties by at least 150 feet when possible.

If growing multiple bean colors nearby, observe harvested seeds carefully for any signs of crossing or unexpected coloration.

Allow pods to fully mature and dry naturally on the plant before harvesting. Once harvested, spread the pods out in a dry well-ventilated location for an additional week to fully cure.

After curing, shell the beans from the pods and discard any damaged material or debris. Store fully dried seeds in labeled envelopes or airtight containers in a cool dry location until ready for future planting.
