Henderson's bush lima bean, a cultivar from the legume family Fabaceae, is renowned for its compact size and easy cultivation. Developed by the Henderson Seed Company in the late 19th century, this variety is ideal for home gardens as it grows in a bushy manner, eliminating the need for trellising. The plant yields small, creamy-white beans that are high in protein and fiber, offering a nutritious option for various dishes.
Harvesting typically takes place 65-75 days after planting, when the pods are plump and firm. Regular picking promotes continuous production. These beans can be enjoyed fresh or dried for long-term storage. Henderson's bush lima beans are versatile in the kitchen, adding a creamy texture and mild flavor to soups, stews, salads, and casseroles, complementing a wide array of ingredients.

How to Save Seeds
Limas can readily cross with other limas, so if you plan on growing to different varieties you must separate by at least one mile. Harvest when completely dried out, shell, and discard trash.
