How to Save Seeds

Peppers are primarily self-pollinating, though crossing can occur between varieties within the same species. To maintain seed purity, avoid planting multiple compatible pepper varieties too closely together.

For best seed purity, separate pepper varieties by at least 500 feet whenever possible.

Allow peppers to fully ripen and dry on the plant before harvesting. Mature ripe peppers will contain fully developed viable seeds.

Cut open the dried peppers, remove the seeds, and allow them to air dry for approximately one additional week before storing in a cool dry location for future planting.
