★ Organically grown on our farm

Long Red Cayenne pepper is a classic heirloom hot pepper variety admired for its slender fiery red fruits, vigorous growth, and exceptional culinary versatility. The long tapered peppers create a stunning contrast against lush green foliage, bringing both ornamental beauty and abundant harvests to the summer garden.

These peppers deliver bold intense heat with rich pepper flavor, making them ideal for hot sauces, salsas, soups, drying, seasoning blends, and countless spicy dishes. As the fruits mature from glossy green to brilliant deep red, their flavor intensifies while their vibrant color makes them especially attractive for fresh use and decorative drying.

Long Red Cayenne plants thrive in warm sunny conditions and produce heavy yields throughout the growing season. The hardy productive plants perform exceptionally well in garden beds, raised beds, and containers when grown in fertile well-drained soil with regular watering and occasional fertilization.

Beautiful, productive, and packed with fiery flavor, Long Red Cayenne pepper remains one of the finest heirloom hot peppers for gardeners and culinary enthusiasts seeking dependable harvests and bold heat.

How to Save Seeds

Peppers are primarily self-pollinating, though crossing can occur between varieties within the same species. To maintain seed purity, avoid planting multiple compatible pepper varieties too closely together.

For best seed purity, separate pepper varieties by at least 500 feet whenever possible.

Allow peppers to fully ripen and dry on the plant before harvesting. Mature ripe peppers will contain fully developed viable seeds.

Cut open the dried peppers, remove the seeds, and allow them to air dry for approximately one additional week before storing in a cool dry location for future planting.

When looking for our seeds for this year, my husband and I wanted to prioritize a few things 1. Christian, 2. non-GMO/organic, 3. family owned 4. high quality. We were delighted to check every box with South Ga Seed Co. We were impressed with the variety of seeds, packaging, shipping time, and personalized note when our package arrived. We haven’t reaped the benefits of planting the seeds yet- but with the experience thus far we expect great yields!
