The Merrimack Sweetheart watermelon stands out as a truly rare heirloom variety, originally introduced by Billy Helper Seed Co. back in the late 1940s. The Billy Helper family, including Billy and his father, dedicated their efforts to specifically enhance this strain, making it perfectly suited for cultivation in the northeastern region. Originating from Japan, this exceptional melon is celebrated for its classic, old time flavor profile, complemented by its visually stunning, deep pink flesh. As an ideal icebox melon, it is particularly well suited for smaller garden spaces or anyone who appreciates smaller sized melons. Its vines are known for their robustness and hearty nature. Beyond its exquisite taste, this watermelon offers a unique opportunity to savor a taste of history, transporting you back to a cherished bygone era. This variety was originally reintroduced by the South GA Seed Co.
