★ Organically grown on our farm
Worchester Indian Red Pole Lima is an exceptionally rare heirloom climbing lima bean with deep southern roots and a rich history dating back prior to the 1860s. We received this treasured variety from fellow seed saver Mary Wilkin of Bainbridge, Georgia, who had carefully preserved and grown it for many years after receiving it through family connections in northern Alabama.
These vigorous pole lima plants are highly productive and remarkably hardy, thriving even during dry conditions thanks to their impressive drought tolerance. The plants climb aggressively and require strong support structures such as tall trellises or poles to reach their full potential.
The beautiful beans display rich red to deep purple coloring depending on soil conditions, making this variety both visually striking and historically unique. In addition to their ornamental beauty, the beans offer excellent flavor and dependable yields that make them a valuable addition to any heirloom garden.
Rare, productive, and deeply rooted in southern seed-saving traditions, Worchester Indian Red Pole Lima is a remarkable heirloom worth preserving for future generations.

How to Save Seeds
Lima beans can readily cross-pollinate with other lima bean varieties, so separate different lima varieties by at least one mile if you plan to save pure seed.
Allow pods to fully mature and dry completely on the vine before harvesting. Once harvested, shell the beans and discard any damaged pods or debris.
Store fully dried seeds in a cool dry location in airtight containers for future planting.
