How to Save Seeds
White Swan Coneflower is primarily pollinated by insects and may cross with other coneflower varieties grown nearby. To maintain varietal purity, separate different coneflower varieties whenever possible and select seed from healthy, vigorous plants.
Allow selected flowers to remain on the plant after blooming. As the petals fade, the central cones will gradually dry and develop mature seeds. Leaving the seed heads on the plant also provides valuable food for birds during the later season.
When the flower heads have turned dry and brown, cut them from the plant and place them in a paper bag or on a clean drying surface. Allow the seed heads to dry completely before processing.
