Mibuna is a traditional Japanese leafy green prized for its mild mustard-like flavor, graceful appearance, and versatility in the kitchen. This loose-leaf type of Chinese cabbage forms elegant clusters of narrow green leaves with crisp white stems and veins, creating a beautiful and productive cool-season crop.
Typically reaching around 12 inches tall at maturity, Mibuna grows quickly and produces abundant tender foliage that is excellent for salads, stir-fries, soups, and fresh greens mixes. Its flavor is mild yet slightly peppery, similar to mustard greens but more delicate and refined.
Mibuna thrives during cooler weather and performs especially well in spring and fall gardens. Its adaptability and fast growth make it a reliable choice for home gardeners, market growers, and raised bed gardens alike.
Easy to grow and highly productive, Mibuna is an excellent addition to any cool-season vegetable garden and offers both ornamental beauty and delicious harvests throughout the growing season.

How to Save Seeds
Mibuna belongs to the brassica family and can cross-pollinate with other members of the Brassica group, including cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, kale, and Brussels sprouts. For maintaining seed purity, separate different brassica varieties by approximately 1 mile.
Plants require overwintering before they will produce seeds. In mild climates, heavily mulch plants outdoors during winter to protect them from freezing temperatures.
In colder regions, carefully dig up healthy plants before severe winter weather arrives and transplant them into containers or boxes filled with slightly moist sand. Store them in a cool location between 35-40°F throughout winter.
Once spring temperatures warm, replant the overwintered plants outdoors and allow them to bolt naturally. Tall flowering stalks will form followed by slender seed pods.
Allow the seed pods to fully dry on the plant before harvesting. Once dry and brittle, collect the pods, shell out the seeds, and store them in a cool, dry location for future planting seasons.
