Royal Burgundy Bush Beans are a striking heirloom bush bean variety prized for their vibrant deep purple pods and dependable garden performance. These vigorous plants grow slightly taller than many traditional green bush beans, making them easier to harvest while adding bold color contrast to vegetable gardens.
The rich purple beans stand out beautifully against the bright green foliage, making them easy to spot during harvest. Their tender texture and delicious flavor make them excellent for fresh eating, steaming, sautéing, freezing, or canning. When cooked, the pods transform from purple to green while maintaining their excellent flavor.
Royal Burgundy Bush Beans are compact, productive, and easy to grow without the need for staking or trellising. Their bushy habit makes them ideal for raised beds, small gardens, containers, and traditional row planting.
Beautiful, productive, and beginner friendly, this unique bean variety brings both ornamental appeal and reliable harvests to summer vegetable gardens.

How to Save Seeds
Beans are primarily self-pollinating plants, so crossing between varieties is relatively uncommon. However, occasional cross-pollination can still occur under certain growing conditions.
If growing multiple bean varieties near one another, using different colored bean varieties can help identify possible crossing when observing harvested seed coloration. For best seed purity, separate varieties by approximately 150 feet.
Allow pods to fully mature and dry completely on the plant before harvesting. Mature pods should feel dry, brittle, and papery.
After harvest, spread pods out in a dry, well-ventilated area for an additional week to finish curing and ensure all moisture has evaporated.
Once fully dry, shell the beans from the pods and remove any damaged material or debris before storage.
Store cleaned seeds in a cool, dark, dry location to maintain long-term viability for future growing seasons.
