 How to Grow

Basil is one of the most popular culinary herbs in the world and is easy to grow from seed in gardens, raised beds, containers, or windowsill planters.

Prepare pots or planting containers using rich well-drained soil, leaving approximately 1 inch of space below the rim. Sprinkle basil seeds gently across the soil surface without covering them heavily, as basil seeds require light for successful germination.

Water lightly and carefully to avoid disturbing the seeds. Place containers in a warm sunny location such as a windowsill, greenhouse, or sunny garden bed. Keep the soil consistently moist but not overly wet during germination.

Seedlings typically emerge within 1 to 2 weeks. As the plants grow, thin crowded seedlings to allow stronger plants adequate space for healthy development. Harvest leaves regularly to encourage bushier growth and continuous production throughout the season.
